Q: What is Digital Printing and what is traditional Flexographic printing? Which should I use to print my labels?
A. Traditionally, most labels were printed using flexographic technology. Our business began and grew by experimenting with and mastering this technology. However, when digital printing became available we evolved with the newest technology. In fact, we were among the pioneers. Today, we have advanced our digital printing techniques that sometimes combines old and new techniques to offer labels that you cannot get anywhere else. We love the options that digital printing has offered us and our customers. Some of the reasons we love digital printing, sometimes called Digital Offset Printing, is that it uses lasers that fuse your art (image) directly onto the surface of the label material. This provides the tightest possible integration of product and brand. This high quality look can better engage your consumers and showcases your brand. Because this process does not use printing plates you can save hundreds of dollar. Digital printing allows you to make one of kind-labels, series labels (with small changes), and very small runs. Also, unlike flexo-printing, digital printing has a very low waste factor that saves time, money, and the environment. We do, however, also have several flexo presses that we generally offer to our customers to save money when they have very long runs. When considering your needs, we will advise you which technology best fits your needs.
Q. Can you send me samples?
A. Yes. Email us at: sales@instantlabel.com Include your name, company name, address and phone number and tell us that you would like a sample package. We will send you general samples so that you can get an idea of our high quality printing. Please specify if you would like samples of specific materials.
Q: What size and shape labels can you print?
A. The metal etched cutting tool that cuts the size and shape of the label is called a die. Instant quote lists many of our current dies; this inventory is increasing all the time. Please realize that we can make almost any new die from your specifications. Generally, die preparation costs between $250-$400.
Q: Do you have a minimum order requirement?
A. No. Small quantities are welcome.
Q. What are variations of labels? Can each label be slightly different? (i.e. a different name) How do I quote this?
A. Easy. Our instant quote system will prompt you to tell us how many variations you need and then it will instantly calculate your price.
Q. Can you supply the labels in sheets instead of rolls?
A. The price quoted on the website is for labels on rolls that are suitable for hand application. If you require sheet labels there is an additional charge. Let us know and we can offer a specialized quote.
Q: What is hand-applied and what if the labels need to be applied by machine?
A. Hand application is just as the name suggests, a person peels the labels from the roll and applies the label using pressure. We have found that in almost every case, the total cost to apply the label in quantities under 25,000 units is less by just applying by hand. If you need the labels to be machine applied you must contact us to discuss specifications. Sometimes additional charges will apply.
Q. What format should my artwork be in?
A. See artwork specifications for a complete description of our artwork requirements.
Q. What is 4-color process printing?
A. This is a method of printing that uses combinations of 4 primary colors, cyan, yellow, magenta and black, to produce millions of colors. We have a press that can print labels with high quality photographs on them.
Q. My company has a PMS color, can you match that specific color?
A. We come close to many of the Pantone Matching System (PMS) colors by using our 4-color process printing, but we cannot match the PMS color exactly. Our in-house graphics department has experience in setting up your artwork so that our presses will very closely match PMS colors. Additionally, we supply a free proof of your label from our presses for your final approval before we print your entire run.
Q. I received my press proof and noticed my credit card had not yet been charged.
A. We charge your card only after you receive your proof and tell us to start printing. If you need your proof faster than UPS ground, we will charge your card immediately for these charges. ($15.00 for second day air & $25.00 for overnight shipping.) Read more about the free proof.
Q. How long will my order take?
A. We strive for rapid turn around on all our orders. Our goal is to have the labels ready to ship 7 days from your proof approval.
Q. Can you rush my labels?
A. Depending on the label’s complexity level, if your artwork is press-ready, our inventory of stock, and our work level we may be able to rush your job through. Rush charges will be incurred and will depend on considerations required.
Q. What are your credit terms?
A. In order to keep our prices as low as possible, orders are processed on a credit card basis (we accept Visa & MasterCard). If you have a substantial history of regular orders with us and would like to be considered for invoice terms, please complete a credit application. We will perform a credit check and advise you if we can offer credit. Please understand that we do not offer this service to first-time or infrequent customers.
